It Ain’t The Middle Of Nowhere - What They Don’t Tell You About Living 30 Minutes North of the City
Everybody raves about living in the middle of town these days. To be fair, being in the thick of the action with all of the amazing bars, restaurants, shops and sporting & cultural attractions is pretty great. However, what’s not discussed as much are the benefits of living around 30 minutes drive North - and trust us when we say there are more than you’d think!
It’s not THAT far away
30 minutes might seem like a lot on paper, but when you look at most cities around the world it isn’t that far away at all. If you work in town then it’s still a very manageable commute (even more so if you live close to a train line) and thanks to Uber it’s not that expensive to get a ride home after a few too many wines in the city. Suburbs like Madeley, Bayswater and Landsdale have a lot to offer and are all actually a lot closer to the action than you may think.
More lifestyle choices
The city can be a loud, bustling, unpleasant place at times, and if you’re living in amongst it then this is your reality seven days a week whether you like it or not. Move 30 minutes North, however, and you have much more choice. The fast lane lifestyle of the city is still very accessible, but you then have the option of retreating to the peace and quiet of the suburbs when it suits you.
Things are cheaper
Given the desirability of an inner city, high density lifestyle, real estate in town can be astronomically expensive. Choosing to live half an hour northwards means not only will you get much more house & land bang for your buck, you’ll also avoid paying the exorbitant amounts charged by most CBD cafes every time you fancy a latte.
